Brunch Attire

When it comes to brunch, what you wear isn't the make it-or-break it of the experience, but that does not mean it isn't important - or at least fun - to think about. Whether you are coming from your morning boot camp class in spandex or you are buttoned up in a cute skirt and top, the way you dress for brunch can say a lot about you and your lifestyle.  Take a look at some of the best brunch outfits and personalities we have spotted below!

What to wear to brunch:  Theresa

brunch attire theresa
Theresa is wearing: red shirt and blue sweater from H&M and skirt from Fashion Bug.  The sandals are PayLess- my favorite place to get shoes, it's so cheap! The wristlet I got on Etsy, from Redstaggerwing Designs
Meet Theresa.  Born and raised in central NY, Theresa made the move to the big apple to pursue her dream of working in TV.  Now with a great job at the BBC and loving life in Astoria, her dreams have finally come true!

How would you describe your brunch style in 2-3 words?
Comfy, relaxed, colorful.

How would you describe your brunch fashion style?
I like to look nice, but without too much effort. For me brunch is just about hanging out, not trying to impress. A cute dress or skirt make me happy, and that's enough for me.

What makes a look brunchable?
As long as you're happy with what you're wearing, I think that's all that matters!

What is your favorite brunch spot or dish in NYC and why?
In Astoria, there is a great place called Sanford's. It's open 24/7 like a diner, but still has a sophistication of a unique, upscale brunch restaurant (And free mimosas!). And it's right by the subway station for those who don't want to venture too far.

What to wear to brunch:  Priscilla

brunch attire priscilla
Priscilla is wearing: Blue maxi dress with a summery, floral print (Sievensante, from local NYC boutique), studded wooden bangle (H&M), tribal chic wedges with feather, bead, fringe and leopard embellishments (Two Lips), and white fringe slouch bag (Carlos Santana)
Meet Priscilla.  A Staten Island native, she knows parts of the city many of us have never ventured to.  Research extraordinaire by day and soulful singer by night, Priscilla has a wide-ranging wardrobe for all occasions.  When it comes to brunch, Priscilla dresses for comfort, but is never without style (or heels).

How would you describe your brunch fashion style?
"Comfortable and no-fuss, but with enough going on to still make me feel stylish."

What makes your look brunchable?
"Throwing on a maxi dress feels like I pulled a fast one on people because it's cute enough to dine in but comfortable enough that I feel like I'm still in pajamas -- perfect for those lazy Sunday brunches after those more adventurous Saturday nights!"

What is your favorite brunch spot and why?
"I'd say probably 230 Fifth because not only is the view as great as the food, but there is just something so fun about eating on a rooftop on a beautiful day. Also, it's a great singles scene (I used to be single once haha).

I'll [also] give you my fave in L.A. [for Brunch Across America] It's called Home. Three words: red velvet pancakes! AND they have "the world's best French Toast" -- literally -- this is the name of a menu item!"

What to wear to brunch: Carol

Meet Carol.  Originally from outside Pittsburgh, Carol is brand new to NYC brunch - and NYC in general!  An aspiring fashion designer, Carol has a unique spin on her girly, flirty brunch style.

How would you describe your brunch fashion style?
"Very casual, yet comfortable. I am just naturally girly and feel more at home in a dress then anything else.  I love my ring because it reminds my of something from Alice in Wonderland!"

What makes your look brunchable?
"My look is brunchable because its cute and flirty, but allows me to sit for a long time to enjoy a brunch, drink and good conversation with friends."

What is the biggest difference between Pittsburgh brunch and NYC brunch?
Aside from brunch not being as big of a deal in Pittsburgh, I had never heard of a table receiving one bill until I came here.  In Pittsburgh the waiters provide individual checks for everyone at the table - even if you were dining with a guy!"

What is your favorite brunch spot in NYC and why?
"My favorite brunch spot was my first brunch in NYC: Agave, which had amazing food. I also loved how there was outdoor seating, half outdoor seating and indoor seating giving you so many options to pick from."

How about a favorite in Pittsburgh?
"In Pittsburgh brunch really is not an event like it is here in NYC. But I would say the closest place I have ever been to brunch in Pittsburgh is Nadine's, it was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives... which kinda explains the place all in the name!"

What to wear to brunch: Judy

brunch attire judy
Meet Judy.  A Florida native, Judy moved to NYC after college to work in inventory planning at Macy's.  With the latest trends front and center every day, she naturally knows how to dress for one of her favorite activities:  brunching.

How would you describe your brunch fashion style?
Casual and comfortable, yet trendy and edgy at times.

What makes a look brunchable?
Easy to put on while I'm still half asleep, but doesn't look it!

What is your favorite brunch spot or dish in NYC and why?
I love La Giara because they have 'make-your-own' bloody Marys that are unlimited!  I like getting the bucket of ingredients to make my bloody nice and spicy.  The food is also delicious and the price is right.
